Open letter to ADI Fellows

Hello to all fellows of the ADI, my name is Bob Fulton and I am glad to accept fellowship into the Academy of Dentistry International.  

For the last ten years I have been involved with dental and medical health care for a very remote population of river people at the headwaters of the Amazon River in Peru.    Our organization, Amazon Promise, (www.amazonpromise.com), provides both dental and medical care to these indigenous people by recruiting licensed physicians and dentists, medical and dental residents, and lay personnel, all organized into a highly effective team.   Many of these expeditions will venture into the remote jungle for two weeks to provide the most basic of care.   We have no religious affiliation, and therefore, work hand in hand with the local village shaman and the village elders to integrate, and correlate western education and treatment with tribal customs and values.

Since many of our dental residents come from the United Kingdom it is a great opportunity to interact, and share and compare ideas with students from other backgrounds of dental education.    I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to become part of this worthwhile project, where it is possible to be both a dental care provider and make a significant contribution to the dental education of our future colleagues as a teacher.   If you have not been on an expedition of this kind before, this trip will have a dramatic impact on how you view your place the world.
