News from the Academy of Dentistry International Foundation………….
It is my pleasure to announce that the ADI Foundation approved to disperse over $20,000.00 in grants at its recent Board meeting in Denver, Colorado. The Board especially wishes to thank Ivoclar Vivadent for generously donating $10,000.00. The following projects were specifically funded by this donation: There were eight New Fellow grants of $1,000.00, each earmarked for Literacies for Oral Health projects in different regions of Brazil. Overall, these projects are a national initiative of the ADI Chapter in Brazil. The aim is to introduce oral health topics in elementary schools in areas of Brazil that have been identified as “underserved.” The projects will train teachers on how to promote oral health and prevention among school children. Additionally, $2,000.00 was designated to the ADI Chapter in Brazil to help fund a forum on Oral Health Literacy at the Fluminense Federal University.
Utilizing donations from Fellows and specified money from the endowment account $10,500.00 was granted in equal $1,500.00 amounts to seven projects. These projects are: Dentistry For Every Village Foundation in the Philippines, Amazon Promise, One 2 One Cambodia, Union Gospel Mission, Smiles International Foundation, Thousand Smiles and West Senior Dental Clinic.
This year the Grants Committee reviewed more applications than ever before! I wish to thank my committee members for donating their time in reviewing and formulating their recommendations.
Thank you to all who donated to the Foundation in the past year. It is only through contributions such as yours, that granting funds to others is possible. Gratefully, with your donations, we contributed to all sixteen applicants!
Fraternally yours,
Thomas L. Brink, DDS, FADI
