The ADI Annual Meeting and Convocation held in Istanbul, Turkey in conjunction with the FDI World Dental Congress was a success for the ADI as well as the FDI.

The ADI held its annual business meeting for the Board of Regents on Wednesday, August 28 and their convocation on Saturday, August 31, 2013.

The FDI reports it was the biggest FDI Congress for over a decade.  The final tally of visitors was 16,197 attending the 2013 FDI Annual World Dental Congress (AWDC.)

"That also makes it the largest medical congress ever held in Turkey. The scientific programme comprised a total of 170 speakers covering all aspects of dentistry today, with an extensive schedule of lectures and interactive sessions over the four-day period. It also featured well over 800 poster presentations, of which 15 were moderated poster sessions, and an additional 347 oral presentations. The congress exhibition was also one of the most extensive in recent times, with over 6,000 square metres allocated."  FDI

The ADI also held a small convocation honoring more like minded dentists from Azerbaijan, Colombia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Turkey.  Honorary Fellowship was bestowed on Martha Baez, RDH, MPH for her contributions to promoting dental hygiene education and prevention around the world.
