Devarshee Patel contributes a majority of her success to her parents, who taught her the importance of a good work ethic, compassion, and the need to serve her community. She likes to live by the idea that “A life is only worth living when it is spent serving others.”  She enjoys volunteering at non-profit dental clinics, health fairs, or even participating in tooth talks around her community to help make a difference one smile at a time. Ms. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience along with a Master of Science degree in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. After which, she continued her education to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry. She hopes to continue to serve others and grow as a professional.

This year’s recipient, Jonathan Ennis, began his dental school career as a temporary foster parent for two very young children. We should have known from that beginning that Jonathan had an amazing heart for serving others. During his time as a dental student, he provided among the highest number of service hours in the class. Included in those hours were numerous local and international mission trips, as well as the development of an oral healthcare education program for elementary students at the local Heritage Academy school. There is no question about Jonathan’s motivation for service. The Dental College of Georgia is proud to present the ADI Student Leadership Award to a most deserving graduate, Jonathan Ennis.

Mark Dean has done many global health trips, has been an active student leader with the CMDA and is the refugee clinic leader. There is no one more qualified than him and above all he is so humble. He has donated numerous service hours for our school without ever asking for anything.
